Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then found multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior official commented the incident made him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
