This occasion offered a platform for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the account with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second consecutive match.

After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring with his very first touch, only to see his effort blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the visiting side.
