Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, striking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the powerful family could help the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which characters will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
