It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country failed to win either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament want to hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

However although she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.
