The Animated Series' Showrunner Is Aware of Your Season 2 Bingo Cards — With Some Good News

The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.

Season 1 presents a large cast of characters living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.

The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which produce the series.

That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.

"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."

The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the format of audience prediction charts.

"I've seen a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on October 29.
